Now, let’s get into the details of how to remove duplicates in Google Sheets.

First, you’ll need to select the column or range of cells that contain duplicate values. Once you’ve done this, there are two ways to remove duplicates.

Approach 1: Remove duplicates without a formula

The first way is to use the “Remove Duplicates” option in the Data tab.

To use this option, simply select the range of cells that contains duplicate information and go to the Data dropdown menu. Under “Data Cleanup“, click “Remove Duplicates“. This will open the “Remove Duplicates” dialog box, where you can select which columns to include in the search for duplicates. Once you’ve selected the columns, click “OK” and Google Sheets will remove all duplicates in the selected range.

Approach 2: Remove duplicates using a formula

The second way to remove duplicates in Google Sheets by using a formula. This formula works quicker, as it removes duplicates from multiple columns at once. Also, it displays a new copy of the set of data with all the unique values from the selected range, in case you don’t want to make changes to the original data set.

To use this formula, enter the following into the cell you want to display the results at (outside the range of the cells to be cleaned):

=UNIQUE(range)

Here, “range” is the range of cells you wish to clean for duplicates. For example, if you want to remove duplicates from the range A1 to A20, you would enter =UNIQUE(A1:A20). This formula will return a range of unique values in the selected range.
